Staff Spotlight: Senior Royalties Client Manager, Victoria!

Senior Royalties Client Manager, Victoria, The Music Royalty Co.

By now, you’ll know that the team at The Music Royalty Co. wears many hats… and Victoria is no exception. In our latest team Q&A, we caught up with our Senior Royalties Client Manager to chat about life at MRC, her love of parkruns, and having a poem published in a book at six years old!

Give us a quick intro and tell us what you do at MRC?

I’ve been working in royalties for 6 years within a mix of major and indie labels, and most recently, as a Senior Client Manager at MRC for just over a year now.

What is a typical day like for you in your role?

As a Senior Client Manager, my day is a mix of number crunching, chatting with clients, and keeping everything running smoothly with my team. I start my day by catching up with my team or the other managers, having meetings to discuss updates, tasks, and projects we’re working on. I spend a good chunk of my day talking to clients about their royalty statements, answering questions, and explaining the details of their statements, as well as discussing contracts.

In between, I find time to help my team, sharing any advice to help them get them the job done. It’s a busy role with a bit of everything – numbers, people, and teamwork.

What do you love most about your role?

What I love most about my role is the variety it offers. Every day is different, and I get to tackle new challenges, whether it’s solving complex problems, interacting with clients, or collaborating with my team. It’s rewarding to see the direct impact of our work on our clients’ success and to know that we’re making a difference. Plus, I enjoy the continuous learning and growth that comes with the job.

What do you love doing when you’re not at work?

As most of the team are probably tired of hearing, I’ve become an avid gym goer, and a professional pavement pounder, aka I do Parkrun every Saturday and go to the gym 2-3 times a week. So that makes me an athlete… right?!

What achievements or milestones are you particularly proud of in your career or at MRC?

I’m proud of the services we provide and the opportunity to work with a great bunch of people while doing so. It’s the collective effort and daily successes that make my role fulfilling.

Do you have any goals you’d love to achieve in the next 12 months?

In the next 12 months, I’m excited to focus on enhancing our client services. By refining our approach, we aim to provide even better service and build stronger relationships with our clients. Additionally, I’m looking forward to developing new skills to stay ahead in our ever-evolving industry.

Lastly, I hope to continue to mentor the team, helping them grow and succeed. Contributing to our team’s overall success is incredibly rewarding.

What’s a little-known fact about you?

Most people don’t know that I had a poem published in a book when I was just six years old.

You’re on a desert island, and you can only listen to one song… name the song!

Just one?! Candi Staton – Young Hearts Run Free.

Last question: Who do you wish you could see live?

Fatboy Slim, Sam Fender, Calvin Harris, Kings Of Leon, Obskur
